Well after a thrilling ride of Rambo IV, I came home and started to see Juno.
It is a story of a 16 year old girl named Juno who gets pregnant. The movie very beautifully crafts the complicated relations between a step-mother and step daughter, a husband and wife (2 couples actually), and between a girl and a guy who is gonna be the adoptive parent. This movie truly shows that relations are complicated and fights and arguements are a norm. But when the problems are dealt with care and understanding, there would be no fights and arguements.
Dont expects bells and whistles while watching this movie. Most of the people will find this movie boring as the pace is very slow. I would not give this movie a must watch but still its a fun-loving and light-hearted movie which everyone of us would prefer to see from time to time.
Without any doubt the star of the movie is Ellen page, who has played the character of Juno magnificiently.

Movie Reviews: Rambo IV
Movie Name: Rambo
Actors: Sylvester Stallone, Julie Benz, Matthew Marsden, Graham McTavish, Rey Gallegos, Jake LaBotz, Tim Kang, Ken Howard.

This might be Rambo "IV" but for me this was the first Rambo movie I saw. I didnt really know that this movie was in theatres. But a friend of mine (A Rambo fan) forced me to join him. I went with him hoping that the movie would turn out entertaining.
The movie started with a warning, something like "The political situation of Burma depicted in this movie is fictional and is in no way related the the actual situation". This gave me a feeling that this isnt just another action movie.
I was right! as soon as the movie starts you see a evil commander ordering his men to kill innocent, helpless, poor and unarmed villagers. Even worse is the way it is shown. Heads getting chopped off, half the leg getting cut off, hands getting cut, blood flying in the air, etc... You feel sorry for those people. At one point it made me and my friend think, that what would have happened to us or rather what would have we done if we were somewhere in the middle of a civil war.
In a nutshell, this movie has no storyline, it really doesnt give out any important message which is expected from movies which show this kind of massacres and stuff (or may be the movie has failed to put forth its ideas, especially cos we know abt the unrest in Burma).
Acting of all charcters is OK. Julie Benz doesnt even look like a heroine. Sylvester Stallone is as usual looking great. Action is breathtaking and so is the gore.
This one is not for the faint at heart. Watch it only if you can stand all the gore.

Movie Review: Charlie Wilson's War

This must be the first movie made on this subject. The beginning of the movie says that it is based on true story. It is confirmed when the credits at the end of movie finish. Last few lines of those credits give special thanks to Charlie Wilson and family, Gust Avrakotos and family and Joanne Herring and family.
The movie is primarily based on the USSR attack on Afghanistan. But the view shown here is the American one. Its about an american congressman Charlie Wilson (Tom Hanks) who is somehow persuaded by Joanne Herring (Julia Roberts) to ask the Congress for funding to give modern weaponary to the Afghanistan Mujahiddin.
The mood of the movie changes from time to time. It opens with a playboy congressman, then shows us scenes where we feel very sad for Afghan children with broken arms and saying stories about it and it moves to showing how USSR retreats and Afghans celebrate victory....to finally showing a couple of dialogues wherein the characters talk about problems which may arise in "future" (read 9/11).
Two of the great actors (Tom Hanks & Julia Roberts) have once again proved that they are one of the best in business.
At the end of it, the movie very brilliantly achieves to show something which most of the world is unaware of.
